Facet Nerve Blocks and Epidurals
We understand the debilitating nature of pain and the temporary relief conventional treatments provide. At CORE Medical & Wellness, we support our patients in finding their own path to health. That's why we offer a wide variety of interventional chronic pain management treatments in the Kenilworth area, specifically targeting shoulder and joint pain. Our advanced procedures include Facet Medial Branch Block and Epidural Steroid Injections.
Facet Medial Branch Block
Facet Medial Branch Block is a diagnostic procedure used to pinpoint the source of facet joint and back pain. Facet joints, responsible for spinal flexibility, can be damaged due to age, trauma, or conditions like whiplash and arthritis. The medial branch nerve provides sensation to the facet joint, enabling us to identify the specific joint causing the pain.
While the nerve block serves as a diagnostic tool, it can also provide therapeutic pain relief. The entire facet block procedure takes less than 10 minutes. The duration of pain relief varies based on the individual patient's underlying cause of pain, the extent of joint damage, and the reaction of the facet joint medial nerve to the steroid. If the medial branch block offers pain relief, the patient may be a candidate for radiofrequency nerve ablation as a pain management treatment.
Epidural Steroid Injection
Epidural Steroid Injection effectively addresses inflammatory neck pain and aids in healing herniated discs. Steroids, known for their anti-inflammatory properties, reduce swelling and relieve pressure on inflamed nerves. Consequently, they are commonly used to treat chronic inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, severe asthma, lupus, and psoriasis. An epidural steroid injection provides effective pain relief and can be attempted before considering surgical options.
Cervical Epidural
Cervical Epidural steroid injection alleviates pain in the neck, shoulders, and arms caused by pinched nerves in the cervical spine. It targets compressed nerves resulting from conditions such as herniated discs, spinal stenosis, or radiculopathy.
Lumbar Transforaminal Epidural
Lumbar Transforaminal Epidural injections relieve lower back and radiating leg pain. Steroid medication reduces swelling and inflammation associated with spinal conditions like spinal stenosis, radiculopathy, sciatica, and herniated discs.
Trigger Point Injections
We utilize Trigger Point Injections to alleviate shoulder and joint pain in our Kenilworth patients. When muscle knots or tension arise, these injections deflate the affected muscles and provide relief. At CORE Medical & Wellness, we work closely with you to determine the most suitable option from our range of treatments.
- Piriformis Injection
- Sacroiliac Joint Injection
- Shoulder Joint Injection
- Transforaminal Injection
- Facet Joint Injections
Spinal Cord Stimulation
To relieve pain, we employ spinal cord stimulation, delivering a continuous low-voltage electrical current to the spinal cord to block pain signals. Widely recognized as the most common implantable neurostimulation technology for pain management in the United States, spinal cord stimulation is an FDA-approved treatment for chronic pain in the trunk and limbs (back, legs, and arms). Consult with your doctor to learn if spinal cord stimulation is the right choice for your specific situation.
